Listening is the gateway to understanding and communicating and, therefore, is absolutely critical for language learners of all skills.

If students struggle to listen carefully, they will miss out on important interactions both inside and outside of the classroom.
The problem with listening instruction is that it is commonly thought to be boring and passive; students simply sit and listen. However, teching listening doesn’t have to be dull! So try this activity to improve Listening skills.
                                          Describe the...
Place students into pairs and have them sit back to back. Give one student in the pair a unique picture with a lot of simple shapes drawn on it. I prefer to draw my own pictures with randomly placed hearts, flowers, stars, houses, stick figures, etc. Put these shapes in different places, angles, and with extra features as desired. Give the second student in the pair a blank piece of paper. The student with the picture must dictate to his/her partner how to draw the picture. Make sure to emphasize no cheating or peeking! When finished, change the pictures around the groups and have the partners switch roles. When everyone has drawn once, the team with the most similar pictures win!
Using this activity for improving your listening skills is very interesting way among others.I hope that this activity will be useful for you.

Watch English movies and TV shows.

Another fun way to improve your listening comprehension is to watch English movies and TV shows.

  • Try to pick movies or TV shows that you will enjoy -- this will make the exercise feel like less of a chore. If possible, choose movies or shows that you are already familiar with, such as children's cartoons or blockbuster films. If you already know the basic story you will find the language much easier to pick up on.
  • However, you should avoid watching movies or television shows with subtitles in your native language -- they will only distract you and make you less inclined to focus on understanding the English, which is the whole point of the exercise.

Here you can see interesting American TV  movie and also you can improve you listening skill. Enjoy your watching!!!

I would like to start my blog from this quote  "The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen.  Just listen.  Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention."

Rachel Naomi Remen
Listening is the ability to accurately receive and interpret messages in the communication process.

               The  Principles of Listening

     1.Stop Talking
Don't talk, listen.  When somebody else is talking listen to what they are saying, do not interrupt, talk over them or finish their sentences for them.  Stop, just listen.  When the other person has finished talking you may need to clarify to ensure you have received their message accurately.

                                         2.Prepare Yourself to Listen
Relax. Focus on the speaker.  Put other things out of mind.  The human mind is easily distracted by other thoughts – what’s for lunch, what time do I need to leave to catch my train, is it going to rain – try to put other thoughts out of mind and concentrate on the messages that are being communicated.
                                           3.Be Patient
A pause, even a long pause, does not necessarily mean that the speaker has finished.Be patient and let the speaker continue in their own time, sometimes it takes time to formulate what to say and how to say it. Never interrupt or finish a sentence for someone.
                                      4.Empathise
Try to understand the other person’s point of view.
Look at issues from their perspective.  Let go of preconceived ideas.  By having an open mind we can more fully empathise with the speaker.  If the speaker says something that you disagree with then wait and construct an argument to counter what is said but keep an open mind to the views and opinions of others.

Keeping this principles you can have good conversation. And you can understand all of them.
4.Read English language newspapers.
Some newspapers use more complex language than others, so choose the right one for you. Remember that you can start with the headlines and then progress to reading the articles as you gain confidence. You can go at your own pace and pick the articles that are interesting. At least read the comics!
If you have friends who are learning too, turn it into a discussion! Have everyone bring an article they found interesting and talk about it -- in English, of course. You can study and talk about the happenings of the world simultaneously!

3.Don't be afraid to make mistakes. If you haven't had half a dozen teachers that have told you this, you were probably taught by robots. Making mistakes is crucial. If you don't, you won't learn what's right and wrong, you won't take risks, and you won't truly grasp the concepts you're learning. It's unfortunate, it is, but it's necessary.
This is why most people stop learning and plateau. They're afraid to talk to native speakers, they're afraid to go outside their comfort zone, they're afraid to truly expand and grow. Can you imagine if Edison would've stopped at his first mistake?!

2.Read children's magazines and books. They are attractive, they tend to have many short articles or simple plot lines, and they come in many subjects (science, literature, self-improvement). But more importantly, they are well-illustrated. The pictures will allow you to understand many words without having to use a dictionary. You'll go faster and get more enjoyment out of it!

  • You should then make an effort to listen to the podcasts or radio shows for at least 30 minutes per day. Do it in the gym, on your commute to work, or while you're sitting at your computer.
  • Really make an effort to understand what's being said, don't just let the English wash over you. Even if you find it too fast, try to pick out key words and phrases to get a general idea of what the conversation is about.
  • If you can, make a note of any words or phrases that you don't understand and look up the translation afterwards. Then listen to the podcast or show again to hear the new words or phrases in context.

Here you can see American Tv program!! Also watching this video you can improve your listening skills.

5.Make friends with English speakers. One of the greatest tests of a person's fluency in a second language is to put them in a room with a bunch of native speakers and see if they can follow and contribute to the conversation.
  • The best way to achieve this level of fluency is to make some English-speaking friends and hang out with them in a social setting, like in a cafe or bar.
  • This way, you will be forced to speak in English if you want to interact with your peers, but it won't feel like work or study because you'll be having so much fun!
6.Pay attention to billboards, signs, advertisements, magazine stands and establishment names.Look and think about what these ads mean. How many words do you recognize? Did you see that  same word elsewhere? Make up sentences about  what you’re seeing.

OK, my friend! We think our blog helped you to improve your

3.Talk and sing to yourself in English

When you are alone at home, or of course in the shower, start

talking! Sing a song in English the way it sounds to you, talk about

the weather or any other topic. Do this frequently and your

pronunciation will drastically improve – guaranteed!

4.Watch TV clips, episodes or soap operas in English

It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand what they’re saying,

watch anyway! Try to understand why something is funny or sad .

If the joke is related to the word itself, then maybe that is why the

joke does not make sense in your native language.

2.Work on your pronunciation. Even if you have an acceptable grasp of the English language, with good grammar and an extensive vocabulary, native English speakers may find you very difficult to understand if you don't work on your pronunciation.

Improve your write skills!!!

Hello, my friends! Welcome to our blog. We are glad to see you here.

Let's go!!!

How to Learn to Write in English

How to Learn to Write in EnglishStudents who are learning English often learn to speak first, and then they want to learn to write in English.

What is the best way of achieving this?

Well, assuming you:

  • know the alphabet
  • write at least basic sentences
Then there are 5 major points to take into consideration if you want to improve your written English.

Grammar

The first point to remember is that grammar is more important when you are writing than when you are speaking

Usually, when you write something, it is for a particular reason, for example to apply for a job or write a letter of complaint.

In these cases you are trying to create a positive impression.

Verbal language is changing more quickly than written language, so there are instances of "street language" where even native English speakers use incorrect grammar.
This isn't the case in written language, where the language is usually more formal and more structured.

So you really need to practice your grammar and do lots of exercises to improve your knowledge and use of grammar.

This can be done by taking a class, by hiring a tutor, or by
self-study using the internet, books, podcasts, or CDs/DVDs. There are lots of options available.

Vocabulary

Second, if you have a limited vocabulary, this will become more evident in written English because your words are concentrated together in one place.

So try to increase your vocabulary to improve your writing.

There are many ways to do that, but you may need to try a few techniques before you find one that suits you.

Have your work checked

Third, you will not be able to improve your written English unless you have someone check your work.
Write as much as you can and ask someone to look at it. Whether it's a teacher, a co-worker or a friend, ask them to look at your work and show you any mistakes.

This is very important, since if you don't know you are making mistakes, you will not be able to correct them.

Style and register

Fourth, there are different styles of English.

Different registers (levels of formality) apply to different kinds of texts and this makes writing English difficult sometimes.

To learn to write in English you really need to become aware of these styles. There are books to help you if you do not have an English teacher.

The next point will also help with this.

Reading

Fifth, one of the best ways to learn to write in English is to read as much as possible, in as many styles as possible.

The more you read, the more different styles of writing and the more vocabulary you will be exposed to.

You will start to know intuitively what feels right and what doesn't seem right.
